Remote Desktop Protocol 8.0 RDP 8.0

How to install Remote Desktop Protocol 8.0 (RDP 8.0) on Windows 7 SP1, Windows 2008 or 8

THESE STEPS MUST BE FOLLOWED IN ORDER AND YES YOU NEED TO REBOOT OR IT WILL NOT WORK.

1. Install KB 2574819, which adds support for DTLS in Windows 7 SP1 and Windows Server 2008 R2 SP1. 

2. REBOOT

3. Install KB 2592687, which installed the Remote Desktop 8.0 client. 

4. REBOOT

5. Open GPEDIT.MSC, and Enable Remote Desktop 8.0 in Group Policy....

Computer Configuration\Administrative Templates\Windows Components\Remote Desktop Services\Remote Desktop Session Host\Remote Session Environment\Enable Remote Desktop Protocol 8.0.

6. REBOOT

7. Now when you launch RDP 8.0, you can go to the about and see that the version has been updated to the latest release. You will also note that you will get a little connection icon indicating that it is connected.
