How to recover a deleted Active Directory Account and Mailbox
Environment: Windows Server 2012 R2, with Exchange 2016
I am currently running Novell IDM. I dis-associated an account from IDM, and then deleted the duplicate account in Novell (stupid Novell junk), after I did so, somehow the account still got deleted in Active Directory. Odd. I'll explain what happened on another day....
How I restored the users account and mailbox....
I went to the domain controller, and opened Active Directory Administrative Center. I then selected the domain (local), and went to the Deleted Objects Container. I then found the deleted object, and then right-clicked and choose Restore To... and then selected the Organizational unit that she was previously a member off. I then checked the Exchange ECP and her mailbox had also been restored.
Starting with Active Directory 2008 (Powershell only), and above such as Windows Server 2012 R2 (GUI option available) the AD Recycle Bin is a nice way to save your bacon. Why people are having to save bacon so much? Who can say?
