Novell Moving a user to a New Organizational Unit OU

Lesson Learned this morning. In an effort to start getting our users into departmental OU’s for the purpose of the migration effort, the LDAP eDir/GroupWise got broke.

Apparently to move a simple user to a new OU, requires moving the user to the new OU, let is sync to AD (give it a few min), and then stop IDM, and then use GroupWise utilities to re-associate the eDir/LDAP relationship, and then start IDM. 

Additionally, if the user had a name change such as getting married, GroupWise/EDir will completely get messed up as the new mailbox will have the updated name. 

Novell is super flexible and a great product (note sarcasim).
